Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan

Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Martial Applications
Understanding the martial applications is important for students at every level. Although health is the primary focus of instruction provided by the Kentucky Center, martial applications of Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan postures are demonstrated and taught to beginning and intermediate students in order to:
- Create an understanding of why the movements have specific shapes and execution
- To train the mind to focus through understanding the function of the movements
- By focusing the mind and concentrating on the intent of the motions, the internal energy is mobilized and coordinated with the external movement
Yang Family Tai Chi Push Hands
Push hands is the active use of Tai Chi Chuan that enables the student to attain a deeper knowledge of the performance and application of the art. Push Hands curriculum includes fixed step, moving step and free style.
Qigong
China's 3000 year old system of self-healing. Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures (whether moving or stationary), breathing techniques and focused intention. Qigong's great appeal is that everyone can benefit, regardless of ability, age, belief system or life circumstances. Courses offered include instruction in Tai Chi Qigong, Spring Forest Qigong, Eight Pieces of Brocade and Relaxation and Meditation.
A Self-Care Program for Combating Stress in the Workplace
This course presents a “Mind/Body Integration” perspective on self-care strategies that promote good health and general well-being, especially for people in high stress professions. Students learn methods to replenish oneself in physical, emotional, and mental ways in order to overcome the damaging effects of stress. The health-oriented techniques taught in this course can be applied at anytime throughout a person’s busy day. Specialized Courses
Specialized courses are available to meet the needs of the health, education and corporate communities. Students will learn techniques designed to fit their busy lifestyle and can be practiced anytime during their daily activities (work, home, travel). These courses can also be tailored to meet the unique requirements that individual students or organizations may have.
Courses offered include:
- Self-care strategies to promote good health and general well-being.
- Support to smoking cessation, diabetes care, arthritis, stress management and more.
- Seated Tai Chi for the office, for rehabilitation or persons wheelchair-dependent.
- Classes for elementary through university levels.
- Supplement to existing fitness programs.
Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong are cost-effective and facilitate a lifestyle of health-related behavior practices that help people take more control of their health and enjoy the benefits of graceful, healthy aging.
